Please join us in welcoming our new Assistant Conductor, Connor Scott! After a thorough interview process, which included personally meeting the Choral Artists, Connor was unanimously selected to join the artistic leadership team.
“The pandemic gave us the space to reimagine how we structure a search process that aligns with our values of access, inclusion, and equity. By eliminating many barriers to apply (traditional qualifications and requirements)…we entirely restructured the search process, and we were so pleased to see that it yielded an incredibly vibrant and talented candidate pool and, ultimately, a fantastic hire." - Brandon Elliott
"I am beyond thrilled to be accepting the role as Choral Arts Initiative’s new Assistant Conductor. Being new to Los Angeles, I am looking forward to working with such a talented crew of musicians who will surely become fast friends. Thank you to those involved in the hiring process, as much of your time was spent reviewing materials and interviewing candidates over video conference. Here’s to the From Wilderness project, and I look forward to meeting the CAI community very soon." - Connor Scott
Scott’s first undertaking will be to collaborate with our team during rehearsals for the in-person world premiere of From Wilderness—coming Spring 2022—and for the studio recording of this concert-length work featuring cello and crystal singing bowls, the first inspired by the transformation one experiences while traveling the Pacific Crest Trail.
