We are so proud of our PREMIERE|Project Festival Alumni. Here's just a few of their accomplishments since leaving our festival. Please join us in celebrating these composers!

Evan Blaché (2023)
In May 2025, Evan's piece "Dreams" (SSA) was published through Rising Tide Publishing as a part of the New Cannon Project. The project focuses on accessible music published for developing ensembles.

Courage Barda (2023)
Courage received the Nathan Davis Grand Prize in Composition for YNYC's 2024-2025 Daniel Thompson Memorial Competition for Young Composers

Grace Coberly (2024)
In May 2025, their piece "Homeland" (TTBB) premiered at the World Pride International Choral Festival in Washington, DC by the Rock Creek Singers.

Stacey Philipps (2019)
Her pieces premiered on two albums in 2025. "Close Distancing" (SSATB) was featured on the Oregon Repertory Singers' album "50", and "Witch Trial" (SSAA) was featured on Resonance Ensemble's album "Listen".

Mickey McGroarty (2023)
Choral Arts Cleveland commissioned and premiered "Stray Birds", a secular SATB cantata, this premiere is the first concert-length work by the composer.

Albert de la Fuente (2024)
In March 2025, his piano sonata won the Ensemble for These Times' call for scores. The sonata was performed in Berkeley, California by Dale Tsang, making it his second American-premiered piece.

Samuel Strent (2022)
Samuel, with The Collegiate Choral Composition Community, organized a reading session at the National ACDA Conference in March of 2025. It was the first ever reading session of the music of exclusively student composers.

Kai-Young Chan (2019, 2023)
Kai-Young's debut album with Navona Records, "Constraints/Creativity", was the first all-Cantonese choral release on a classical label. Recorded by Hong Kong's foremost chamber choir Die Konzertisten under the direction of Felix Yeung, the album is part of his endeavors to improve Cantonese representation globally and preserve the language through expanding the repertoire of this developing Cantonese music genre.

Patricia Wallinga (2022)
Patricia wrote an opera titled "The Sisters," which had a public preview in January 2025. The opera is set to have a fully staged performance in June 2025 through Liberty City Arts in Philadelphia, PA.

David Walters (2022)
David received the 3rd place prize for the 2024 Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music.

Leah Curtis (2023)
Leah was awarded the Reel Change Grant by New Music USA to compose and record her original score for the film Anwar directed by Fawaz Al-Matrouk. The film premiered at Les Utopiales in Nantes, France.

Mickey McGroarty (2022)
Mickey had his first piece published with a traditional publishing company in 2024! "Like Moons and Suns, I'll Rise" was premiered at the 2023 National ACDA Convention, and is now published through E.C. Schirmer.

Tara Mack (2023)
Tara had her first post-festival commission in May 2024. "Nighttime Ninja" was commissioned by the New York City Master Chorale under the direction of David Recca.

John William Griffith II (2019)
John was the recipient of the 72nd Annual BMI Composer Award in 2024.

Aaron Manswell (2019)
Aaron's piece, "Stick With Love," was featured on Choral Arts Initiative's 2024 album, Tapestry of Becoming!

Kyle Pederson (2018)
In 2023, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Inc. launched the Kyle Pederson Choral Series.

James Keller (2022)
In March 2023, James had his first piece published through a traditional publisher, leading to the first performance of a piece by an ensemble he had no involvement with.

David Walters (2022)
David received 1st place in the 8th Annual Japan International Choral Composition in 2022.

Deanna Witowski (2018)
Deanna won the 2022 ASCAP Foundation Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Book Award for her book, Mary Lou Williams: Music for the Soul (2021).

Kai-Young Chan (2019|2022)
Kai-Young developed and launched an open-access app to promote Cantonese musical genres and reduce barriers to composing in a tonal language. The app, "Cantonese Melody Generator" converts Cantonese text into intelligible melodies that honor the tonal nature of the language.

Leah Tracy (2023)
Leah was the 2022-2023 winner of the San Francisco Choral Artists' New Voices Project for Composers under 30.
